The Best Laptops Inspired by Tablets
Some of the best laptops today are inspired by new mobile technology like the tablet computer. For example, Intel has released details on its plans for a new line of ultra-thin laptops that will combine laptop performance with some features inspired by tablets. The thickness limit for the new Ultrabook will be just 20 mm, or .8 inches.
The new laptops should also feature an instant-resume capability, similar to tablet devices being sold today. Intel said it expects to sell the new Ultrabooks for under $1,000, but wouldn't give a specific price yet. The new Asus UX21 Ultrabook which debuted this week already beats Intel's standard, measuring just 17mm at most. Intel expects that the sales of these new laptops will explode as they fill a current gap in the marketplace.
